Dr. Tonda received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University), with a specialty in Automotive Engineering. He received his Master of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics from Michigan State University, and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering (Mechanics and Materials) from Texas A&M University. He is responsible for mechanical engineering projects, with emphasis in accident reconstruction analysis, failure analysis, and mechanical design analysis. He specializes in professional accident reconstruction and component failure analysis studies.
He has performed detailed post-crash inspections of vehicles to determine the immediate pre-crash condition of the vehicles, and thus establish the causal involvement of any vehicle deficiencies. He has performed complete investigations, from on-scene documentation of physical evidence and preparation of detailed diagrams, exhibits, and animation scenarios, to delivering courtroom testimony. He has investigated catastrophic highway accidents in several states including Louisiana, Michigan, and Texas. He has provided expert testimony in state and federal courts.
