Mr. Baker is a Civil/Structural Project Engineer in the Charlotte, North Carolina office. In this capacity, he performs investigations related to construction defects, structural failures and collapses, wind and flood damage, roofing system failures, truss damage, foundation damage, water intrusion, and flooring damage. He performs code compliance evaluations (Building, Life Safety, and Accessibility for the Physically Handicapped) of building systems, walkway surface slip-resistance investigations, and investigations of fall protection systems for compliance with OSHA regulation. Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. Baker was a Project Engineer for a structural design firm. In this capacity, he performed building design, construction engineering, heavy-lift engineering, connection design, structural investigations, and fall hazard engineering. Mr. Baker currently serves as a Structures Specialist with the NC-TF3 Urban Search & Rescue Team and previously served both as a Structures Specialist with the MI-TF1 Urban Search & Rescue Team and as an on-call firefighter/EMT with the City of Farmington Hills. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society of Safety Engineers, American Institute of Steel Construction, and the Structural Engineers Association of North Carolina. Additionally, he is a member of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) for which he is a voting member of the NCSEA Structural Engineers Emergency Response Committee. Mr. Baker earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, and is a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, and Michigan.
