Mr. Kumar earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton and his Master of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
His responsibilities at S-E-A include the investigation of products and systems, particularly those suspected of causing a fire; equipment breakdown or electric shock/electrocution; the evaluation of losses to determine the mode, sequence, and/or component of failure resulting in damage to property or individuals; and the analysis of various types of electrical power equipment (i.e., transformers, circuit breakers, power lines, industrial, commercial, and residential electrical systems, etc.) and appliances/products on-site and/or in a laboratory to determine the cause of an incident. Mr. Kumar also conducts laboratory testing related to the reliability and efficiency of various products.
Mr. Kumar has over 20 years of engineering experience, including experience in power quality, generation, transmission and distribution for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Prior to joining S-E-A, he was employed by the American Electric Power Company (AEP) as a Senior Engineer. Mr. Kumar is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), and is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Mr. Kumar has provided testimony with regard to high profile electrical engineering projects to the Ohio Public Utilities Commission.
