Mr. Shoss earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Denver. Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. Shoss worked for a major electrical equipment manufacturer of low and medium voltage power distribution equipment (i.e., electric panels/switches, motor control centers (MCC’s), power circuit breakers, fuses, variable frequency drives (VFD’s), transformers, automatic/manual transfer switches (MTS’/ATS’), power/energy meters, and protective relays). He held various positions in service, applications, and system studies responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, training, and performing protective device coordination, power quality, and arc flash calculations.
Mr. Shoss’ responsibilities at S-E-A include investigating electrical faults and malfunctions, particularly those suspected of causing a fire, equipment damage, or electrocution. He performs evaluations of various types of losses to determine the mode, sequence, and/or component of failure resulting in the damage to equipment or individuals. He analyzes various types of electrical power equipment (i.e., transformers, circuit breakers, power lines, commercial and residential electrical systems, etc.) and appliances onsite and/or in the laboratory to determine the cause or result of an incident (i.e., fire, equipment damage, or personal injury).
Mr. Shoss is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) in several states. He is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
