Mr. Lancaster received a Bachelor of Science in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology from Eastern Kentucky University with a concentration in Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigation. He is a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI), Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI) and Fire Investigation Instructor (CFII). Mr. Lancaster is also a Certified Fire Fighter and is certified in Vehicle and Machinery Operations as well as Hazardous Material Operations.
At S-E-A his chief responsibilities include determining the origin and cause of fires in structures, recreational vehicles, heavy equipment and motor vehicles. Many times, for litigative and demonstrative purposes, Mr. Lancaster produces accurate 3-D models of pre- and post-fire reconstructions. He conducts follow-up and background investigations in addition to documenting fire scenes and coordinating engineering activities for the evaluation of electrical and mechanical systems and/or devices.
Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. Lancaster was employed by Eastern Kentucky University as a fire research assistant where he was responsible for the development and implementation of technical scientific fire research experiments.
He is a member of the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). Additionally, he is a published fire research author and presented at the 2012 International Symposium of Fire Investigation (ISFI) publication.
