In an effort to determine what happened and why, the vehicular accident team analyzes and reconstructs complex accidents involving personal, commercial, and industrial vehicles. Furthermore, this team is frequently called upon to analyze and reconstruct vehicular accidents involving motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians.
Mechanical Engineers analyze scene evidence and vehicle damage data to reconstruct pre-impact vehicle speeds and positions.
Data collected may be used in the latest computer analysis and simulations to assist in the reconstruction. Any associated mechanical failures will be identified.
Additional factors such as road design, coefficient of friction, lighting, conspicuity, and sight restrictions may be evaluated.
In addition to analyzing scene evidence, the following additional factors may also be evaluated:
- Road design
- Lighting
- Conspicuity
- Site restrictions
